Continue ShoppingThe effects of movement can be overwhelmingly positive, especially in an office setting. To start, it helps you burn more calories, increase energy, and lose weight. Stand to work using a standing desk converter—it boosts energy, burns extra calories, tones muscles, improves posture, enhances blood flow, and stimulates metabolism.
The detrimental effects of prolonged sitting are an alarming issue for professionals and medical experts. Studies have shown that too much sitting can cause cardiovascular diseases, including heart disease, poor blood circulation, strained neck and back pain, colon cancer, and obesity due to limited movement and less muscle activity.
Published reports in journals such as Annals of Internal Medicine (January 2015) show a strong correlation between sedentary time and risks of hospitalization, all-cause mortality, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. The results suggest that a sedentary lifestyle is associated with harmful health outcomes—regardless of other physical activities.
Sedentary time can mean too much sitting or even too much standing. Incorporating a standing desk converter into your workstation encourages more dynamic movement during both work and break times. But how do you make this movement purposeful?
Start with the 30-minute movement guideline advocated by Dr. Alan Hedge of Cornell University. Workers are encouraged to follow the sit-stand-stretch pattern: 20 minutes sitting, 8 minutes standing, and 2 minutes stretching or moving.
For example, if you weigh around 110 lbs and stand for at least 2 hours a day, you can burn approximately 220 calories. Stand for two more hours and the number doubles. Over time, these small habits can make a big impact.
Now that might not sound like much, but it adds up—about 110 calories per hour. Standing for three hours a day, five days a week, equals roughly 1,650 calories burned. Over a year, that totals at least 85,000 extra calories—about 16 pounds of body fat. That’s a powerful incentive to get on your feet.
Adding a standing desk converter to your workspace is more than a trend—it’s a step toward a healthier, more active lifestyle. With consistent use and mindful movement, it can help you feel better, work smarter, and live healthier.
